from Ann & Harry Colman
2002 Started out sadly as we had to say goodbye to our beloved Tiffany after 16 years in mid-January.   Those of you who have truly loved a pet understand how that feels.   We were really honored when the DAILY LIVING CENTER dedicated their spring-time fund-raiser, The GOLDEN MILE to Tiffany, their top fund-raiser over the years.  Harry is still on the board for the Center and is also their webmaster.  Ann and I continue to believe in the wonderful service to families provided by this organization.
Yes, we still ride PEDALING bicycles also!   Of course Harry's Alaska trip in May and his heart procedure in July (nothing to worry about, everything okay!) cut into his miles.  People were AMAZED when he still rode our annual 100 mile Bike Ride in September.  The club awarded him their LOST & FOUND award.  (Lost to the Harley, but then Found his TREK!).   We did put quite a few miles on the Tandem we got last year, but decided we were NOT ready to attempt the 100 miler together.   Ann rode the shorter Metric Century and had a blast.   You can check out our bicycle club here:
During 2002 we continued to "manage" affairs for Harry's dad Frank who is now living in a Senior Citizen apartment complex in Staunton.  We have made the next step of moving him to "assisted living" status to make sure he is well cared for.  We regularly go visit him and take along his Afghan Hound Hymie Davis Jr. (don't ask) who is living with us.   Hymie is ALWAYS a hit with Frank and the other residents.
In 2002, Ann sang with the Waynesboro Choral Society in the Spring Concert (while Harry went to Alaska), and Harry sang in the Christmas Concert while Ann watched from the audience.    We have shared time in this great group for 18 years now so Harry (and other members) are twisting Ann's arm to get her to come back. Check out the Choral Society website for some pictures of the Christmas Concert.

We only visited our kids once this year, and they haven't made it up from Atlanta.  But we are proud to report that Nina, (homeowner and a server at the CHEESECAKE FACTORY) is also a "Faculty Scholar" [like a honors student on steroids I think!] at Georgia State University and has a new dog that she says is our grand-daughter.   Matt and his lady the lovely Sara (he says he found his Miss WRIGHT just like DAD did!) bought a nice house in Clarkston, Georgia in May.
What else in 2002?  Harry hit 30 years with DuPont, DuPont announced they are splitting off our business.  (No connection?)  In a weak moment, Harry agreed to join the Waynesboro Planning Commission.   Interesting but time consuming!  Ann and Harry are working on our 3 to 5 year plan to leave the working world.   A lottery win would still help (or send checks to 105 Tiffany.....never mind!)
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!

Here was our Christmas Card from 2001 when we were ALSO Late & out of stamps!
Merry Christmas Friends!
It would be hard to express the obvious meaning of this season quite as eloquently as Archie Bunker did it!   To Ann and Harry it is sure a time to remember the greatest gift ever given, that was given to us all.    It is also a time to remember our many friends!  Once again, Ann and Harry THOUGHT about Christmas Cards, but we never QUITE got around to sending any.  Believe me we enjoy and appreciate all those we receive (by postal service AND email) and we read every word of those neat family Christmas letters that update friends on what is happening.   Here is our last minute attempt to let you folks know we ARE thinking about you, and to update you on what has been happening with us.
Ann, hanging up her Stocking and still believing!!

Click here and you can see the great time Harry had on his Alaska trip. Ann didn't save pictures of her parties while he was gone!
Why a map of ALASKA in a Christmas Card?   Because Harry actually followed through on his plans and rode his Harley to Alaska and back in May 2002.  It was a GREAT TRIP with some GREAT folks.  Click on the map and you can see the whole adventure unfold again.    We are still riding our Harleys and still members of the local H.O.G. chapter which does amazing things for the community as well as having a lot of fun.  (Together, Ann and Harry sold $6000.00 worth of raffle tickets to benefit NEW DIRECTIONS, the local shelter for the Abused).
