Merry Christmas from Ann & Harry Colman
Hello Folks,
Once Again, Ann and Harry THOUGHT about Christmas Cards, but we never QUITE got around to sending any.  Believe me we enjoy and appreciate all those we receive (by postal service AND email) and we read every word of those neat family Christmas letters that update friends on what is happening.   Here is our last minute attempt to let you folks know we ARE thinking about you, and to update you on what has been happening with us.  Check out our Picture page and you'll find pictures of some of the things I'll mention.
First of all, WHY the DOG music?  Our life is kind of dog dominated right now.  We have SHEBA (terrer mix inherited from Ann's parents), Hymie (Afghan Hound inherited from Harry's dad) and most of all Tiffany.   Tiffany is 16 and is declining.  We are learning just how much we can still love her and just how much work that can be.   We're getting up in the middle of the night, to help her when she falls down, and putting her into and out of her wheelchair several times a day.  But Ann and I are also learning just how much we would give and do for each other in our declining years and it is really still a positive experience for us and for Tiffany.
But our life is still stuffed with other fun things as well.  Our main Christmas present to each other is a Tandem Bicycle.  Believe it or not, ANN rides in front most of the time.  (Admit it, you thought Harry was such a control freak he couldn't handle that!).   We are enjoying actually being able to HEAR each other on a ride, and we hope to ride a lot of miles together in 2002 on this bicycle.  We make NO committment that we'll attempt the annual CENTURY ride this way though!  Yes, we still host a 100 mile bike ride from our house every Labor Day Sunday!  You can read about that and see pictures here:
During 2001 we continued to "manage" affairs for Harry's dad Frank who is now living in a Senior Citizen apartment complex in Staunton.  Besides moving him in to this place, we also moved in his Baby Grand Piano and his electric organ (with the help of friends, thanks!)  A very interesting experience for Harry back in June was to visit all 3 living aunts and my one living Uncle.  This ended up being a nice family experience!
2001 saw Ann and Harry still singing with the Waynesboro Choral Society (something we've now shared for 17 years!)   One reason we end up running late on Christmas every year is that we are both struggling to learn words for our Christmas Concert!  Ann is now serving as vice-president of the group, and naturally, Harry is the webmaster:
Another fun group that Ann and Harry are both enjoying is the local H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) chapter.  We are determined that a lot of our 2 wheel time will continue to require pedaling, but gee, it sure is fun to just twist the throttle sometimes instead!   Harry Also serves this group as webmaster, and there have been some fun trips on the Harleys in 2001.  In 2002, Harry is planning a May trip to ALASKA on his Harley.  (Ann says SHE is planning a month's vacation without Harry, PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!).   You bet there will be some neat pictures posted from that trip, just like for these:
Ann and Harry also got to see a very special ART SHOW in Atlanta early in 2001.  Check out our son's bicycle art:
2001 was a good year for the Colman's to stick to the Colman Family Motto:  "you can only be YOUNG once, but you can be IMMATURE forever!"   Life is meant to be enjoyed.   After the national tragedy in September, we hosted a October people mixer to remind ourselves how lucky we are to have our freedom and our friends.   We hope that 2002 gives us some time to enjoy with EACH of you and that it is a wonderful and happy year for you.
